7/20/2023 0 Comments Original amp energy drink![]() ![]() The original Amp flavors were Amp Overdrive and Amp Energy Rush. The History of Amp Energy DrinksĪmp Energy Drinks were first introduced in 2001 by the Mountain Dew company. But don’t worry, they’re still out there. So, if you’re looking for an Amp Energy drink, you might have to do a bit of searching. The reason for this is that Amp Energy drinks are now owned by Keurig Dr Pepper, and Keurig Dr Pepper has been phasing out the Amp Energy brand in favor of its own brands. It turns out that Amp Energy drinks are still being produced, but they’re not as widely available as they used to be. Stay tuned later this week.Do you remember Amp Energy drinks? They were all the rage a few years ago, but it seems like they’ve disappeared from store shelves. ![]() It’s a version that I’d enjoyed, but hadn’t seen on the shelf in quite some time. However, my next Dew Review I’m looking forward to. I think this one can will be enough for me. It’s different enough from regular Dew that I feel it’s worth giving it a try. I guess if you’re interested in a Mountain Dew with some sweet and sour levels messed with, with a bit more pronounced lemon/lime flavor to it, but not to the point where it’s just a lemon/lime soda, you could seek this out. … I’m just not entirely sure if it’s a good thing this time around. Like, why do these exist if they’re just going to taste exactly like another drink? But this does legitimately taste different. In a way, I’m thankful, because all of the other drinks I’ve had that attempted to mimic Original Recipe Dew did so to a level where they were a tad boring to drink. It’s got a slightly strange aftertaste (like, way after, extending out a minute+ after drinking) that I’m not entirely sure I jive with. I’m not entirely sure if I like it or not. Tell us what you mean, PepsiCo!), it doesn’t have any of the “roundness” of flavor that I described with the Game Fuel and Kickstart varieties. I will say that despite the addition of juice (or not? I don’t know. I have no idea how the hell that’s supposed to work), though it doesn’t taste orange-y at all, just the lemon-lime with “other flavors” as Dew usually does, but again, with the levels adjusted. One of the first ingredients is concentrated orange juice (despite the can also claiming it contains 0% juice. Though it doesn’t quite turn it into Mountain Dew Ice (that stuff was basically just Sprite). Those flavors are definitely more pronounced. It’s got a bit more lemon and lime flavor (considering it looks like a mix of those two fruits on the can, that doesn’t surprise me) than regular Dew. It tastes like Mountain Dew if some of the dials had been twisted slightly from their regular settings. I say that because this is more sour, but also a bit more sweet than regular Dew. If I was blindfolded and you gave this to me, I would say that it was some kind of Dew, maybe thinking it’d gone “off” if I didn’t know better. This legitimately tastes different than all the other drinks.ĭon’t get me wrong, it’s still obviously a Mountain Dew. Both of those tasted like Original Recipe but just “rounded off” with fruit juice (and the two of them tasted damn-near identical, from what I remember). And not just different in the ways that Kickstart and Game Fuel were different. However, it doesn’t entirely smell like Original Recipe Dew. Well, it certainly looks like Original Recipe Dew. In this case, I’m kind of wondering if this is just rebranded Game Fuel Original Dew. She’d hoped it was a new flavor for me to review, but it was just Original Recipe Dew. A couple weeks ago, a friend picked up a bottle of Dew that had all sorts of Call of Duty stuff all over it and was in a twist-off-cap aluminum bottle. ![]() And PepsiCo is big on temporary branding in their bottling. All of their Game Fuel line has that sub-title as well. And this isn’t the first time I’ve come across the Amp sub-title. So, I’ve done lots of reviews of drinks that are designed to taste like Original Recipe Mountain Dew. The first one I’m doing is Mountain Dew Amp Energy Drink Original flavor. Fortunately, over the weekend, a friend and I stopped at a QT, known for having a rather large drink selection, and I saw a couple cans of Dew that I’d not reviewed yet. Couldn’t fall asleep easily, despite not having had any caffeine all day. Unfortunately, I didn’t sleep well last night. ![]() Today is my first day back at work after a holiday vacation (or holiday holiday, for you in Britain). ![]()
